SAPERION in Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management
Berlin, October 14, 2008. SAPERION AG is a leading European provider of Enterprise Content Management solutions. The company recently announced that global IT analyst Gartner, Inc. has included SAPERION in the 2008 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management.
“We are proud to have been listed in the Gartner Quadrant for ECM. We view this as a clear acknowledgment of our competitive strength. We anticipate this development to further boost demand for our products, especially among our large customers,” according to Rudolf Gessinger, CEO of SAPERION AG.
When asked how an ECM manufacturer from Germany could manage to earn a place in the Quadrant, Volker John, Director of Product Management at SAPERION, referred to the acceptance criteria: “To be included in the Magic Quadrant, a company must not only fulfill certain technical requirements, but also have a presence and actively market its own software in at least two global economic zones. With its steady growth in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, SAPERION easily fulfilled both requirements.
SAPERION’s customers and business partners place a high value on its expertise in handling industry standards like JSR 170 or MoReq2. “Standards create independence,” according to Henning Emmrich, Director of Marketing at SAPERION AG. “This means IT independence – due to the many available interfaces. It also means personnel independence - thanks to the availability of many trained developers. But it also means independence from the manufacturer itself. This gives SAPERION customers a very high level of investment security.”
SAPERION continues to expand its involvement with international standards. Currently the company is dedicating resources to investigating Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS), a new standard recently proposed by EMC, IBM, and Microsoft. Volker John describes it this way: “We believe that CMIS could be a good complement to the established JSR 170 standard. But experience tells us that we should not expect ratification before the end of 2009."
